Les Gets - Festival of Mechanical Music - Summer event - Review
Les Gets is home to the Mechanical Music Museum, and every 2 years there is a festival featuring various artistes from around France and Europe.
These enthusiasts have a great collection of organs, mechanical pianos and phonographs. They play their instruments in the streets in full traditional costume, and many of them have song-sheets to pass out to the audience to encourage sing along.
Even if you don’t speak good French, it is good fun to join in with the locals
The theme this year is “the Five Senses”, and the local restaurants are taking part hosting artistic and gastronomic events
The streets are closed off with childrens games, puppet shows and there are also many concerts in the village church
It is an event with a difference, and a really great family day out.
